Colonel families, we have crucial updates regarding student medications at school, effective for the 2025-2026 school year.
New Kentucky Department of Education (KDE) Policy for All Medications (Prescription & Over-the-Counter):
Doctor's Order and Parent Consent Required: For all medications (prescription and over-the-counter, like ibuprofen, acetaminophen, antacids, or cough drops) to be administered at school, a completed and signed medication form from a licensed medical provider and a signed consent form from a parent or guardian must be submitted to the school.
This is a statewide regulation to enhance student safety and standardize health procedures.
Medication Supply Limits:
Only a 30-day supply of any medication may be delivered to the school at one time.
Large bulk containers (e.g., 200-count bottles of Tylenol) will not be accepted due to limited secure storage.
Required Medication Permission Form:
The necessary Medication Permission Form is available online.
Both the healthcare provider’s signature and the parent or guardian’s signature are required for the form to be valid.
We encourage you to discuss this new requirement with your child’s healthcare provider during upcoming visits.
Where to Drop Off Forms:
