Five challenging high school courses use project-based, hand-on experience to teach students the key elements and skills of engineering and technology-based careers by immersing them in rigorous engineering problems. The program is provided by Project Lead the Way (PLTW) which is a national non-profit organization established to help schools give students the knowledge they need to excel in high-tech fields. Studies of PLTW’s curriculum have proven that PLTW students become the kind of prepared, competent; high-tech employees U. S. industry needs to stay competitive in the global market.

The HCHS Pre-Engineering Program has partnered with the University of Kentucky College of Engineering as part of Project Lead the Way.


The Pre-Engineering program at HCHS is lead by Mr. Kaleb Payton. Mr. Payton holds a B.S. in Technology Education from Western Kentucky University as well as an A.S. in Engineering Technology from Bowling Green Technical College. He has experience in the Maintenance/Industry field as well as the residential construction.
