The Business Department at HCHS provides many different chances for students to explore the great opportunities that await them in the “real world.” Our students get exposed early to the business field by taking their required freshman level course, Computer Applications. After Computer Applications, there are many different electives to choose from including Business Law, Accounting and Finance Foundations, Financial Accounting, Math for Business and Industry and many marketing classes. These classes all lead to the three career majors offered by the Business Department: Financial Services (Colonels’ Corner Bank), Business Co-op, and Information Technology.
Financial Services is a class opened to juniors and seniors, better known as Colonels' Corner Bank (CCB). CCB is a real bank that offers savings accounts, loans, and check cashing services to our staff and student body. Students who are accepted into CCB have taken Accounting and Finance Foundations. CCB is sponserd by Ohio Valley Financi Group who works closely with the students. Community service is a huge part of the class, from Turkey of the Year to the Salvation Army Soup Kitchen.
Business Co-op is a class for seniors only who have taken 2 or more business electives. This class allows seniors to work for Henderson businesses in the office setting while earning 3 credit hours and receiving pay. This provides a great opportunity for HCHS to partner with area businesses for the benefit of our students.
Leadership opportunites are provided to all business students through Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA) which is sponsered by Mrs. Jessica Grace and Ms. Danna Robinson.
Jessica Grace is the Colonels' Corner Bank advisor and Business Co-op Coordinator. Mrs. Grace earned her B.S. in Economics from Murray State University where she played college golf. She has several years of experience in the business world and has been teaching at HCHS since 2004.
