The Henderson County Automotive program has a long tradition of excellence! Many students have been recognized as the best in the state and nation during Skills USA and Ford /AAA competitions. The Automotive program also is certified by NATEF/ASE and AYES. This certification provides college credit for classes studied at the High School level at many post secondary schools.
Students will learn to perform the tasks on the NATEF task list. Students will learn to repair and diagnose brakes, electrical systems, steering, suspension, engines and engine performance. The program enjoys the support of many local automotive dealerships and independent automotive repair facilities. Students also will have the opportunity to participate in work based learning during their senior year.
Henderson County’s automotive instructor is Scott Herschelman. Mr. Herschelman has achieved and maintained ASE Master Technician status for over 25 years. Mr. Herschelman has also managed service departments for over 10 years. This experiences helps students learn what qualities employers seek in potential employees.
