"Future Farmers of America" was founded by a group of young farmers back in 1928. Their mission was to prepare future generations for the challenges of feeding a growing population. They taught us that agriculture is more than planting and harvesting-- it's a science, it's a business and it's an art.
FFA continues to help the next generation rise up to meet those challenges by helping its members to develop their own unique talents and explore their interests in a broad range of career pathways.
So today, we are still the Future Farmers of America. But, we are the Future Biologists, Future Chemists, Future Veterinarians, Future Engineers and Future Entrepreneurs of America, too.
FFA makes a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
To accomplish its mission, FFA:
FFA members enter crop and ag mechanic exhibits at the Kentucky State Fair. Members also participate in Career Development Events such as, Agronomy, Livestock Judging, Floriculture, and Nursery Judging Teams.
FFA members attend National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky. Members attend leadership workshops, National Career Development Events, and career fair. Over 55,000 FFA members across the United States attend the convention.
Fall on the Farm
Fall on the Farm is an agriculture literacy event that we hold at the high school. This year we educated approximately 600 second grade students in our school district. The agriculture students design and lead educational activities for the students attending. The purpose of this activity is to educate the students and the public on where their food comes from and how it gets from the farm to the table. Our Fall on the Farm program was held September 30th- October 4th.
FFA members devote a week of their summer to attend the Kentucky FFA Leadership Training Center in Hardinsburg, Kentucky. While they are at FFA Camp they are sharpening their leadership and communication skills. Officers and Committee Chair attend special training sessions to help them become leaders within our organization.
State FFA Convention
FFA members compete in Career Development Events such as, Parliamentary Procedure, Speaking Contests, Ag Sales, and Record Keeping.
