Henderson County Bass Fishing team took 6 teams to the Regional tournament out of Kuttawa Harbor.  There were 75 teams competing for 17 qualifying spots for State tournament.

The team of Ethan McCracken and Paxton McGraw with boat captain Chad Lander qualified for State and came in 10th place with 5 fish weighing 13lbs5oz.

The team of Hunter Book and Jacob Bridwell with boat captain Mark Book came in  19th place.  They had 4 fish and a weight of 10lbs12oz.

The team of Reese Larew and AJ Rutledge with boat captain Tony Rutledge came in 42nd place, with 2 fish weighing 4lbs12oz.

The team of Payton Carter and Cameron Carter with boat captain Bob Carter competed.

The team of Stephen Fulkerson and Dustin Smith with boat captain David Larew competed.

The team of Carter Phipps and Weston Melton with boat captain Terry Rich competed.

Seniors: the deadline to turn in holiday world permission slips is May 12th. students will be assigned to a bus as their slips are being turned in. There will be no bus changes. There will be an early bus available for students who need to return to school for after school activities. Please sign up with Tracy Bailey, at south lobby desk.


Please join us for the final HCHS Band concert of the school year on Thursday, May 4th at the Henderson Fine Arts Center, beginning at 7 PM.  The band will be sending off our graduating seniors and performing pieces from some of your favorite films and musicals, as well as celebrating "May the Fourth Be With You" with several pieces from the Star Wars film series!  The band will feature Brant Ford soloing on music from Catch Me If You Can, and will conclude with the HCHS Choir joining the Wind Ensemble for an epic finale!  The concert is free and the band would love to see a full audience at the Fine Arts Center!

HCHS-Through a partnership with Henderson Community College, current Henderson County High School Juniors and a limited number of Sophomore students will have the opportunity to work toward an associate degree from HCC while enrolled in high school. The following student-athletes will be signing on the following dates:

(1)    Emma Lander will be signing with Oakland City University to further her education and basketball career this Friday, 5/5/2017 at 3:45pm in the HCHS cafeteria.

(2)    Riley Powers will be signing with Murray State University to further her education and cheerleading career next Tuesday, 5/9/2017 at 3:45pm in the HCHS cafeteria.

Come support and congratulation Emma and Riley on this special occasion.


There is a MANDATORY Leo Club meeting this Friday, May 5 at 7:30 in G202. We will be discussing Candy Day and electing new officers.

$55 per camper ($95 for family of 2 - $125 for family of 3 or more)

Seniors you need to turn in your scholarship award information to your unit guidance counselor as soon as possible.


Seniors if you owe any fees/fines please make sure they are paid by end of day on Thursday May18th.  If they are not paid by the 18th, your diploma will be held until your balance is paid.

Monday May 1st is the cutoff for all lunch charges.

Students remember you are not allowed to bring soft drinks into the cafeteria.

Class officer applications are available at each unit desk.  They are due Friday, May 5 – no late applications will be accepted -no exceptions!

AP Catalyst, a CIPL (Commonwealth Institute for Parent Leadership) initiative in funded in part by the Raymond P. Preston Foundation, offers scholarships for students at Henderson County High School to pay for AP® Exams.   Considerations for scholarship are applicants who are in the most financial need, who challenge themselves by enrolling in multiple AP® courses, and/or who demonstrate academic progress and achievement in AP® classes.   


Dear Parents, Faculty, Staff, and Community Members:

The Class of 2017 will be celebrating at Project Graduation on May 19th from 11:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. This event is held in the HCHS cafeteria and auxiliary gym. The purpose of this special party is to provide graduates with an evening of fun without drugs and alcohol.

A full night of activities is including karaoke; video games, D.J.; bungee run; sumo wrestling; casino night; a hypnotist  and of course plenty of food and soft drinks. A multitude of prizes are given away at Project Graduation. All seniors that attend will receive a prize valued at $10.  Other prizes include: Yeti cups and coolers,  laptops, iPad, Keurig Coffee Makers, TVs, refrigerators, microwaves and of course CASH.

We are in need of YOUR assistance. We need at least 120 volunteers to help the night of Project Graduation. The event is from 11:00 p.m. to 3:30 a.m. You can stay all or part of the night. PLEASE volunteer by completing the electronic form found on the HC webpage or the link below.  The last day to volunteer for Project Graduation is May 10th.  Each volunteer will receive a t-shirt.  Only volunteers who have signed up in advance to work Project Graduation will be admitted to the event.

HCHS has added an opportunity for students to take Spanish 1 in summer school for enrichment.  There are also still openings in Computer applications summer school as well.  Class costs $150 and applications are available at the Student Services office at HCHS.  Applications will be accepted until May 5th, 2017.


Parents if you are interested in running as a parent representative on the Henderson County High School SBDM for next year please fill out a nomination form at the main entrance of HCHS by 3:30 PM, Monday May 8th or send an email to hazelwood@henderson.kyschools.us. Elections will be held at the high school on Thurs., May 11th from 7:30 AM until 3:30 PM at the reception area in the main foyer outside the Colonel Gym. If you have any questions please contact the school.


Henderson County High School. Student registration for all current 9th, 10th, and 11th grade parents for the 17-18 school year will begin on April 24th. Instead of paper packets, student registration will now be on-line. Information about the registration process can be found on the Henderson County Schools website. Click on our Parent Portal link and follow the directions.

The registration process can be completed at home on your personal computer or you can attend one of our open sessions for registration at the HCHS Media Center on May 3rd from 4:30-7:00 PM. The registration process should take about 30 minutes to complete. HCHS recommends setting up a Parent Portal account at or before registration begins. Parent portal accounts will allow you to verify existing data and to save time during the registration process. This account also allows you to monitor grades and attendance throughout the year. If you have children attending various schools in the district, you can complete the registration process for all of your children at any location or at home.  Thank you for your help in getting your child registered for the 17-18 school year.

Summer school forms for enrichment classes are available at the Student Services Office.  Anyone who wants to take Computer Applications or Health and PE this summer to open up your schedule can apply.

There will be an informational meeting at the Henderson Country Club on Monday, May 1st at 6:00pm for any student interested in trying out for the HCHS Boys Golf Team.  This is for students and parents.

Henderson First United Methodist Church will be offering free tutoring for Middle and High School Students beginning March 13th on Mondays from 3:30-5:00PM, address 338 3rd Street. Cathe Hedgespeth, retired teacher, will offer tutoring in Math and English.  Healthy snacks and drinks will be provided. For questions, please call Erin McKee, 270-817-9831.

Morning tutoring will be in rooms G200 and G201 and the Media Center from 7:15 – 7:50 on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and on Wednesdays from 7:15 – 8:20. Afternoon tutoring will be Monday – Thursday  from 3:30 – 4:30 in the Media Center. There will be NO transportation provided in the afternoons.

The Work Ready Kentucky Scholarship helps Kentuckians who have not yet earned an associate's degree afford an industry-recognized certificate or degree. Be sure to review the areas of study available in advanced manufacturing, healthcare, business and IT, construction, and transportation/logistics.
